This is such a yummy and easy little dish to prepare. Sure, you could simply buy a tin of curried baked beans but trust me, this is much, much tastier!


One of my readers was kind enough to share this lovely recipe with me, and my husband and I have been enjoying this little treat ever since. We often have it as a meal on its own, just on toast or with pap, or as a small side dish to go with our bacon and egg Sunday breakfast. We’ve also enjoyed Curried Baked Beans cold, as a braai salad. It is always so delicious!


The best thing is, it only takes a few minutes to prepare so it is just the perfect recipe for an easy evening meal when you come home from work and you’re too tired to even defrost a meal from the freezer, let alone cook a whole meal from scratch.


Also, if you regularly enjoy baked beans in tomato sauce but would like to add a bit of variety from time to time then this is just the right idea for you. We have enjoyed this simple yet delicious dish so much that I now regularly include Curried Baked Beans on our menu when I meal plan for us for the month.




1 Tin Baked Beans in Tomato Sauce

1 Onion, finely chopped

2 Tbsp Sunflower Cooking oil

1 Tbsp Curry Powder (we use Rajah curry powder, mild)

Salt and Pepper to taste




Fry the chopped onions in oil. Then add the tin of baked beans in tomato sauce, the curry powder and salt and pepper to taste. Cook on medium heat for a few minutes, stirring, to allow the flavours to infuse. Serve immediately, or leave in the fridge to chill and enjoy it as a salad later.
