Chic Mamas Do Care Durban is a South African based, not-for-profit organisation raising funds to support early childhood development projects, through the sale of quality, pre-loved clothing.
The Chic Mamas Do Care Durban team are passionate about giving little children in their communities, the best possible start in life. They are currently involved with three preschools; Umzamo Preschool & Creche in Reservoir Hills, House of Hope in Clermont and Zamokhule Preschool & Creche in KwaDabeka. You can read more about their current and past projects here.
How can you help?
The Chic Mamas Do Care Durban charity relies on the community to donate good quality, preloved clothing, shoes, handbags and accessories in order to host their fashion events and they invite all Frugal in SA readers to declutter and donate!
It feels good to get rid of what you no longer want or wear… and it feels even better to know that those unwanted items really are going to a great cause.
Your donations towards Chic Mamas Do Care Durban can be dropped off at Chi Chi’s Salon, 2 Cedar Road, Westville, KZN from Tuesday to Friday 8am – 5pm (if local to you), or if you’d like one of their team members to arrange a collection from your home or office, please get in touch with Chic Mamas Do Care Durban via email or their Facebook page.
You can also attend one of their Fashion events for a bit of quality, second-hand clothes shopping. Fashion Exchange is brand label shopping, at Chic Mamas prices! These are a major hit and always a whirlwind of social fun, good fashion, food and fabulous fundraising. Their rails are filled with gorgeous items just waiting to be discovered – it’s every bargainista’s dream.
At Fashion Exchange events, shoppers can swap 4-6 of their quality garments for Chic tokens of a nominal value in Rands, such as GOLD = 100, RED = 50 and you can then pay for your new items with your tokens and cash or card. Any leftover tokens can be spent at their next event. As the purpose is to raise funds for a great cause, this is a swap for charity, not a one for one swap.
As Chic Mamas Do Care Durban projects are focused on supporting creches in their communities, you can also assist by donating age-appropriate toys, teaching materials, books and playground equipment.
