I am super excited to have been chosen as one of Ecoegg South Africa’s brand ambassadors! I love trying new household products, as you know, especially eco-friendly products, and those that are good for the budget too. So when I heard about the Ecoegg Laundry Egg, I knew I just had to try it!

So I’m sure you can imagine my excitement when about two weeks ago, I was sent my very own Ecoegg Laundry Egg by Ecoegg South Africa. I just couldn’t wait to unpack my Laundry Egg and give it a try!

But you may be wondering by now, what is the Ecoegg Laundry Egg exactly? It is an eco-friendly, dermatologically tested replacement for your laundry washing detergent. It is good for the environment and your skin. It is also long lasting and good for your budget – you can purchase a Laundry Egg to last you for either 210 washes or as many as 720 washes, which is 3 years’ worth of laundry for the average family, and works out to just over 60c per wash.

Before I could get started using the Ecoegg Laundry Egg, I had to detox our washing machine with a detox tablet (also available from Ecoegg South Africa), which removes build-up of lime scale and soap as well as any odours. I simply placed the tablet in the empty machine drum and switched it on 90 degree cotton wash – the longest and hottest cycle. When the cycle was completed and I opened the washing machine door, there was a very pleasant, clean and fresh smell to it. My washing machine was now ready for use with the Ecoegg Laundry Egg.

To prepare your Ecoegg Laundry Egg, you need to open the egg, empty 3 packets of beige pellets and 1 packet of grey pellets in the larger half of the Laundry Egg, and close it firmly in place. It’s very easy, and it only takes a minute. Your Ecoegg Laundry Egg is now ready! Simply load your laundry in the washing machine, place the Laundry Egg in the drum of your washing machine, and switch it on.

Doing laundry with my Ecoegg Laundry Egg was absolutely love at first wash for me! I have since been using it to wash our clothes, linen and towels and I am really pleased with the results, each and every time. The Laundry Egg has even removed some of the stains on our clothes, with no pre-treatment at all, and all my laundry has come out lightly but very pleasantly scented and feeling very soft, fresh and clean, and I didn’t even use any fabric conditioner. I absolutely love doing my laundry with my Laundry Egg. Like I said, it was love at first wash for me!

And here are a few more reasons why I absolutely love doing laundry with my Ecoegg Laundry Egg:

  • There’s no need to measure washing powder or liquid detergent. I simply pop the Ecoegg Laundry Egg into the washing machine, and that’s the measuring done, each and every time!

  • I keep my Laundry Egg close by. It airs out and dries out when not in use, and when I’m ready to do laundry, it’s right there, so no more looking for the powder box in the cupboard for me!

  • Because I don’t need to use any fabric softener with my Ecoegg Laundry Egg, I am going to be saving even more money on my laundry from now on.

  • I really love the lightly fragranced scent it has. The Laundry Egg I received is spring blossom scented, and it’s very gentle yet fresh, without overpowering in any way.
